On-Campus Photography Contest

The Chancellor’s Office is sponsoring a contest to choose a photograph of UC Santa Cruz for use on Chancellor Blumenthal’s winter holiday card.

The Chancellor’s Office and University Relations are sponsoring the contest, which is open to all UCSC faculty, staff, and students.

The winner’s image will appear on the front of the chancellor’s greeting card. A photo credit will appear on the card, and the winner will also receive a $250 gift certificate at Bay Tree Bookstore.

In addition, a number of submissions will receive honorable mentions; those photographers will receive a certificate of acknowledgment.

Contest rules:

  • Color or black-and-white photographs will be considered.
  • Subject matter is limited to landscapes that showcase the beauty of the campus
  • Portraits or photos depicting individuals will not be accepted.
  • Limit three entries per person.

Submission Guidelines:

There is a limit of three (3) submissions per person. Your photograph(s) must meet the following specifications:

  • Format: JPEG (.jpg or .jpeg) only, up to 10 MB
  • Minimum size: 6 inches x 8 inches
  • Minimum resolution: 300 dpi

Each submission must contain:

  • The photographer’s name and university affiliation
  • The title of the photograph
  • The campus location

All submissions must be received by noon on October 31, 2012.

Note: All photographers whose work is selected for first prize or honorable mention must grant unlimited use to The Regents of the University of California for promotion of the UC Santa Cruz campus with the exclusion of any use that becomes part of a retail product. Photo credit will be given where appropriate with our style guide.

The University reserves the right to reject any and all submissions.
