I am writing to inform you that the Policy on the Supplement to Military Pay, which was set to expire on June 30, 2012, has been extended through June 30, 2014. The University of California will continue to provide reasonable assistance to academic and staff personnel who are serving on active military duty in the War on Terror campaign.
Under this policy, the University compensates eligible employees for the difference between their University base pay and military pay and allowances until the end of their tour of active military duty, until June 30, 2014, or until their date of separation from University employment, whichever comes first. The University also continues to pay the UC contribution to employees’ health premiums while they are eligible for benefits under the policy. Benefits provided under the policy are subject to a two-year lifetime limit.
Employees not eligible for supplemental pay because their military pay and allowances exceed their University wages may elect to continue their health plan coverage while on military leave, and the University will continue to pay the UC contribution to those plans if the employee continues to make the employee contribution.
Eligible employees under this policy are those who serve on active military duty in the War on Terror campaign.
The policy and Extended Military Leave Q&A’s are posted at the following URL:
