Garrison Keillor is scheduled to read a poem by UC Santa Cruz's Gary Young on Keillor's Writer's Almanac on Thursday, March 22.
The poem — In the heat of late afternoon... — is from Young's new book, Even So: New & Selected Poems. Writer's Almanac can be heard on many public radio stations.
Young, a lecturer in humanities, was named the first-ever Poet Laureate of Santa Cruz County in 2010.
He graduated from UCSC in 1973 and currently teaches poetry as a lecturer in UCSC's Literature Department. Young is also director of UCSC's Cowell Press.
