Alex Belisario, college administrative officer for Crown and Merrill Colleges, was a featured presenter at the popular Comic-Con Conference in late July.
Belisario was a panelist at the program titled "Bringing Geek Back to Higher Education." She was joined by Alfred Day (Semester at Sea), Ryan McRae (CSU San Marcos), Tyler Miller (Fresno State), and Emily Sandoval (Cal Poly San Luis Obispo).
In their panel discussion, Belisario said, they talked about "how geek culture and college life can enhance one another. How colleges can reach out to geeks, how geeks can use their identities to increase college success, and what partnerships are being formed between colleges and pop culture."
Comic-Con International is a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to creating awareness of, and appreciation for, comics and related popular art forms, primarily through the presentation of conventions and events that celebrate the contribution of comics to art and culture.
