I am writing to let you know that Chancellor Blumenthal underwent successful surgery at UCSF yesterday to remove a small abnormal artery in the brain. Doctors have told him he will need about three weeks to recuperate before resuming his duties full time.
In good spirits during phone conversations this morning, the chancellor apologized to staff about the inconvenience of having to reschedule some appointments.
Chancellor Blumenthal has asked me to assume his day-to-day responsibilities during his recovery period.

Le escribo para hacerle saber que el Canciller Blumenthal fue operado con éxito en el hospital de UCSF ayer, para remover una arteria anormal pequeña en el cerebro. Los médicos le han dicho que se necesita alrededor de tres semanas para recuperarse antes de reanudar sus funciones a tiempo completo.
De buen humor durante las conversaciones telefónicas esta mañana, el canciller pidió disculpas al personal acerca de la inconveniencia de tener que reprogramar algunas citas.
Canciller Blumenthal me ha pedido que asuma sus dia a dia responsabilidades durante su periodo de recuperación.
