All tsunami warnings for Santa Cruz area cancelled

All tsunami advisories for the Santa Cruz area have been cancelled. The original tsunami warning was issued on Friday, March 11, 2011 for the California coast from Point Concepcion to the Oregon border due to the 8.9 earthquake in Japan. The Santa Cruz area experienced tsunami surges causing extensive damage in the Santa Cruz Harbor. No UCSC facilities were at risk from this level of tsunami surge and UCSC facilities were in normal operation on Friday.

All evacuations for effected areas were lifted Friday night, though advisories remained in effect theough the night for potential additonal surges.
