The Student Health Center is once again offering seasonal flu shots for UCSC students at the newly renovated center across from the University Center on McLaughlin Drive. The flu shot will significantly reduce your chances of being bedridden with influenza and missing class for a week. It lessens the chance that you will get your friends, coworkers and family sick when you return home during winter break. The flu shot is strongly recommended for persons with asthma, diabetes and any disorder that weakens your immune system. The flu shot is safe and effective. Flu shots will be offered by appointment only at the Student Health Center on the following days and times:
Tues 10/26/10 9:30am – 4:30pm and
Thurs 10/28/10 9:30am - 4:30pm
Please note that these flu shots are effective at protecting you for BOTH seasonal and the H1N1 strains of the influenza virus. This year the flu vaccine charge is $25.00.
In order to reduce waiting time, appointments are strongly encouraged and can only be made online by accessing the STUDENT flu shot link on the Student Health Center website homepage:
http://healthcenter.ucsc.edu/
There is limited space, so please reserve early. You will need your student ID card at the time of your appointment. Students with SHIP insurance will see no charge for the vaccine. If you have outside insurance, you can submit your statement to your health insurance company. The $25 charge will go directly to your University account and a bill electronically mailed to you. Not all companies cover these shots. Please check your plan.
If the above dates are inconvenient, please contact the Student Health Center, your personal medical provider or research other off campus locations for flu shots via the following websites:
