Bike to Work returns to UCSC

Fall Bike to Work/School Day returns in full force on Thursday, October 7, with over 6,000 cyclists taking to the streets.

This event is a traditional favorite for UC Santa Cruz’s many student, staff and faculty bike commuters. Participants have an extra incentive with the free healthy breakfasts being offered between 6:30 and 9:30 a.m. for riders at the UCSC Women’s Center, in the Cardiff House, near the base of campus, at the UCSC “top of the bike path’’ location, and the UCSC Bike Coop.

Breakfast will also be offered at dozens of other locations across Santa Cruz County, including a few options that are relatively close to campus, such as the New Leaf Community Market at Fair Avenue and Ingalls Street.

Fall 2010 Bike to Work Day participants who complete a commuter survey at one of the breakfast sites or online are eligible to win a free Zipcar Membership.

Bike To Work Day is part of an effort to encourage sustainable, environmentally friendly and economical travel in Santa Cruz County. For more information, go to Ecology Action’s Bike To Work website at http://www.bike2work.com/s_cruz/
