Space is still available in Life Lab's Wildlands and Watering Cans summer day camp at the UC Santa Cruz Farm and Garden for children ages 7-10 and the Farm and Wilderness day camp for children ages 11-14.
The two-week camp for 7- 10 year olds begins Monday, July 26. Children will experience gardening, cooking fresh food from the farm, hiking, crafts, music, and art. Parents may join Friday afternoons for a child-harvested Farmer's Market and or Farm Treats Tasting Party.
The session runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and serves 28 campers with a 1:7 ratio of instructors to campers. Cost: $520 per session per child with a single week rate of $270.
Farm and Wilderness Exploration, for 11-14 year olds, is new this year in partnership with Tod Haddow of Standing Tree Nature School. Children will harvest, cook, and enjoy produce from the farm and garden, practice wildlife tracking and wilderness survival skills, and explore local open space reserves.
The one-week session is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. August 9-13 and will serve 14 campers with a 1:7 ratio of instructors to campers. Cost is $270.
There is a sibling discount of 10 percent off for a second child; financial assistance is available.
