The 2010 Pacific Rim Music Festival--five days of concerts and symposia celebrating the crossroads of contemporary and traditional music--will take place April 21-25 at the UC Santa Cruz Music Center.
This year's festival, titled "Music from the Past, Music for the Future," features the work of 25 composers and 10 ensembles from Korea, New York, Boston, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Santa Cruz--plus more than a dozen graduate student composers.
Guided by UCSC music professor and festival artistic director Hi Kyung Kim, the event was founded in 1996 with the aim of introducing traditional music from different cultures along with Western contemporary music.
