University of California President Mark Yudof announced today (October 23, 2009) that the system's ten campuses have embarked on a four-year effort to raise $1 billion for student financial support programs.

In his announcement, President Yudof challenged the campuses to increase their fundraising for student support over this critical period to help preserve student access and affordability.

UC Santa Cruz is responding to the president's challenge by doubling its goal for student support.
