As the official voice of the UC students, UCSA needs YOU to represent over 200,000 students on important decision-making committees for the UC system. These committees deal with critical policy issues that affect every student in the UC system (e.g. admissions policy, budget priorities, sustainability practices, diversity issues and technology investments). It is vital that UC students have strong representatives on these committees. Student of Color Conference:
In addition to these system-wide committees, you can also get involved by attending the Student of Color Conference, November 13th - 15th at UC San Diego. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=119735157275
The Student Union Assembly (SUA) is recruiting a UCSC Delegation to Attend the Conference.
From all across the state, students of color (and allies) will be coming together in San Diego for the 21st Annual University of California Student Association (UCSA), Student of Color Conference. This year's theme is: Building Our Leaders with Purpose: Activism, Wellness and Reclaiming Our Education. These three aspects take center stage because of the need to create a healthy life balance for student activists, particularly those organizing in or around issues that affect communities of color. The conference provides a venue for students to meet leaders from across the UC system and engage in powerful, informative, and enlightening workshops in hopes that a bigger network of relationships and knowledge can be created to allow us to organize more effectively as this year unfolds. This year, we're facing fee increases of around 32%--of which directly affect our communities. Join as we build a bigger student movement. Here's how to apply.
The application is due Friday October 16th in the Student Union Assembly Office, which is located on the top floor of the Student Union Building, directly across from the Bay Tree Building. Anyone is welcome to apply! If you have any questions, and to request an application, please feel free to contact SUA External Vice-Chair Víctor Sánchez via email: evc.sua@gmail.com.
