After conducting a national search, the Division of Student Affairs is pleased to announce the appointment of Mary Knudtson as the new Executive Director of Student Health Services. Mary's appointment began on June 22, 2009.
Mary has a distinguished background and demonstrated expertise in health care management including mental health and medical services. During Mary's tenure, she provided first-class health care services to University students, and successfully provided senior strategic leadership in the design, development, implementation, assessment and continuous improvement of health related programs.
Most recently, Mary has served as the Director of the Advanced Practice Nursing Programs at the University of California, Irvine, College of Health Sciences. At UCI, Mary was the Director of Clinical Operations for the Department of Family Medicine and Co-Medical Director of the Gottschalk Medical Plaza and Primary Care Medical Group. In her role as the Co-Medical Director, Mary was selected by the physicians to lead the Primary Care Medical Group practice which provided care to a culturally diverse patient population including graduate students, undergraduate students with private health insurance and primary care patients from the community.
Mary holds a DNSc. in Nursing Science, with an emphasis on Public Health Nursing, from the University of Tennessee, and an M.S. in Nursing from California State University, Long Beach. Mary is also credentialed and licensed as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner from CSU Long Beach. Mary also received a B.S. in Nursing from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb.
