New Online Fair Hiring Training Option for Staff Hires

To: UCSC Staff

From: Ashish Sahni, Assistant Chancellor/Chief of Staff and Chief Diversity Officer

The Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action Office is pleased to announce that a web-based training, "Fair Hiring: Best Practices in Staff Recruiting" is now available as an option for meeting the mandatory fair hiring training requirement. Hiring supervisors and search committee chairs are required to take the training every three years.

This online training is primarily intended for those renewing compliance (those who have already taken the workshops presented by Employment and EEO/AA staff), for faculty supervisors of staff employees, for senior managers and for those who work in facilities located twenty miles or more from the main campus. However, any interested employee may choose the online option.

Please note that the mandatory requirement and the training content apply to staff employee searches only; not academic or student employee searches.

This is a big step forward for the EEO/AA Office and the campus as we endeavor to do more with less, saving money, time, and increasing efficiency without sacrificing excellence and innovation.

Access to the training requires a password. If you wish to take the online training, please contact EEO/AA at eeoaa@ucsc.edu and you will receive a response that includes instructions and a password. Information about the training is available on the EEO/AA website: http://www2.ucsc.edu/eeo-aa/. If you have questions about this correspondence or the online training, please call 831 459-1590.
