The UCSC Silver Slugs presented six students with $500 scholarships at their May Dessert Event at the Arboretum.
Three of the six scholarships were awarded in memory of Bruce Lane, an architect who joined the campus in 1964 before the first buildings were constructed. Lane died last October. Lane family members were on hand at the event to present the scholarships in his name.
Recipients of the Bruce C. Lane Memorial Scholarship awards are Joseph Cresalia, business administration; Henry Mun Hong Dea, biochemistry; and Loc Van Do, health sciences.
Silver Slug scholarships were presented to Ezekial Bennett, politics; Jay Roldan, computer engineering; and Lane Sharon, biology.
