The City of Santa Cruz has informed the campus that Bay Street is closed southbound between King Street and Mission Street. The lane closure is expected to last for the rest of the day and into the night.
Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes. This morning, a construction crew hit a major natural gas line causing a leak. Repairs are underway but the southbound lane of Bay Street is closed to allow access for heavy equipment.
Vehicles driving south on Bay Street may turn left or right at King Street but may not continue on to Mission. Northbound traffic is not affected.
