What better way to welcome in summer than to spend time with flowers. Join flower expert Jude Moran as she walks you through the basic steps of creating beautiful bouquets at a hands-on bouquet-making workshop. The event takes place at the UC Santa Cruz Farm on Saturday, June 21 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
"In the workshop I'll focus on the elements and principles of design, as well as emphasizing color," says Moran, founder of Bella Bouquet (www.bella-bouquet.com), which focuses on using locally grown organic flowers. She adds, "All flowers are lovely and all bouquets can be lovely too -- it's really about having fun with flowers."
Organically grown flowers from the UCSC Farm & Garden will be provided, and participants are asked to bring a vase so that they can take home their creations.
Cost of the workshop is $15 for members of the Friends of the UCSC Farm & Garden, and $20 for the general public, payable the day of the class (check or cash only). Please pre-register by Tuesday, June 17, by calling (831) 459-3240, or send e-mail to jonitann@ucsc.edu, or see http://casfs.ucsc.edu. The workshop is cosponsored by the Center for Agroecology & Sustainable Food Systems and the Friends of the UCSC Farm & Garden.
The UCSC Farm is located 1/4 mile up the gravel road above the Blacksmith Shop; free public parking is available across the street from the Blacksmith Shop in the Physical Plant parking lot, just inside the main entrance to the UCSC campus.
