It is time for faculty and staff to renew or purchase OPERS Wellness Cards for the 2008-09 academic year.
The Wellness Card provides access to the OPERS facilities when they are open for recreational activity. This includes the 50-meter pool; the Wellness Center with cardio equipment and weights; tennis courts; handball/racquetball courts; the gyms, and other facilities.
Drop-in wellness classes during the summer are free to valid Wellness Card holders. Work out without the crowd by coming to the Wellness Card hours on the first floor of the Wellness Center during the lunch hour (12 - 1 pm). During the school year you can also take Physical Education classes, play in intramural sports or take a recreational class.
As a reminder, Wellness Cards are renewed/purchased only at the OPERS administrative office, located on the second floor of the East Field House. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Staff and faculty have the option of paying for their Wellness Card via payroll deductions. If you want this option please visit http://www2.ucsc.edu/opers/homepage/forstaffandfaculty0809.html , download the application form and waiver, and mail to Katie at the OPERS mail-stop. You can sign up anytime after June 5, 2008. After we process your paperwork, you can come by after June 23 to pick up or activate you card!
Otherwise, you can purchase your card with cash or credit card. If want this option please bring proof of affiliation and your expired Wellness Card (if applicable) to our office starting June 23, 2008. A quick reminder that we do charge a lost card fee.
