As you know, George Blumenthal will be inaugurated as UCSC's tenth chancellor in a public ceremony on the East Field during the morning of Friday, June 6. In this email, we want to update you on two aspects of the inaugural ceremony:
This is a reminder that Monday, May 5, is the deadline to participate in a contest to select the students and staff members who will offer traditional greetings during the program. As noted in an earlier email, the following web page includes contest details: http://inauguration.ucsc.edu/contest.shtml
For planning purposes, people attending the inauguration will need to obtain tickets in advance. Beginning today, the tickets can be obtained at no cost from: http://www.santacruztickets.com/
Faculty who have already ordered inaugural regalia or who have informed UCSC's Special Events Office of their intention to march in the academic procession do not need to obtain tickets.
Other faculty, students, staff, and the general public will need admission tickets. Managers and supervisors are encouraged to provide release time so that staff can attend Chancellor Blumenthal's inauguration.
All inaugural information can also be found at: http://inauguration.ucsc.edu
Thank you very much.
