As you know, George Blumenthal will be inaugurated as UCSC's tenth chancellor in a public ceremony on campus during the morning of Friday, June 6. One of the inaugural traditions we are incorporating into the program is the academic procession by faculty.
It is also the very strong desire of our committee--and of the chancellor--to involve students and staff in the formal program. One other inaugural tradition--the offering of greetings from important constituencies--gives us a chance to do just that.
Toward that end, we are inviting students and staff who are interested in offering greetings during the inauguration to participate in a contest to select the representatives from these important groups.
