Assistant Chancellor/Chief of Staff Ashish Sahni will serve as interim director of the Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action (EEO/AA) Office when current Director Patti Hiramoto leaves to join CSU Monterey Bay later this month.
Hiramoto, who has been EEO/AA director since joining UC Santa Cruz in 2000, will become CSUMB's first associate director of academic personnel.
Chancellor George Blumenthal noted that Hiramoto successfully institutionalized best practices in recruitment and retention, reinstituted the Diversity Awards Program, expanded the Faculty Diversity Fund program, and represented EEO administrators system wide on the UC Staff Diversity Council.
Sahni will serve on an interim basis in addition to his other duties. A search committee chaired by Assistant Campus Provost Char Moreno is being formed to conduct a national search for a permanent EEO/AA director.
