Emili Willet has been appointed as UCSC's director for Early Education Services, starting work January 8.
Willet's background includes a range of professional experience in childcare services management, curricular program development, teacher training, and administration.
Before joining UCSC, Willet was owner/founder of A Mother's Place in Santa Cruz. Before that, she was director of operations for the Children's Creative Learning Center in Sunnyvale and director of finance for Bright Horizons Family Solutions in Cambridge, Mass.
She has a bachelor's degree in human development/child development from UC Davis, and a master's degree in education with an emphasis on child development from Harvard Graduate School of Education.
The director for Early Education Services serves as the senior manager in all areas related to Early Education Services programs including the infant, toddler, preschool, and school-age programs, teacher recruitment and training, enrollment and retention, and oversees curriculum development, and compliance with state and federal licensing requirements.
