Traffic delays at UCSC's main entrance

The installation of storm drains for the Ranch View Terrace housing project will require road construction in the Bay/High intersection at the campus's Main Entrance. Work is slated to begin Monday, October 29, and continue weekdays through Tuesday, November 6, with the most disruptive work scheduled for Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Campus commuters should anticipate some traffic delays between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. as construction crews conduct their work.

When construction is underway, the Bay/High traffic signal will be switched to "flashing red" with flaggers present to provide traffic control through the intersection. The left-turn lane exiting campus's Main Entrance onto High Street will be closed to traffic during these times. Additionally, a pedestrian crosswalk at the Bay/High intersection will be closed while construction is underway; signs will direct pedestrians to the crosswalk on the opposite side of High Street.
