Groundbreaking celebration for new Digital Arts building set for Oct. 18

A groundbreaking celebration for the new Digital Arts building will take place on Thursday, October 18, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Music Center Recital Hall. A reception will follow at 5:15 p.m. in Kretschmer Plaza.

The state-funded $25 million arts building is slated to house the expanding digital arts program as well as provide 10 studios for art faculty, a photography studio, and expanded space for music and theater arts classes. The new building--scheduled for completion in May 2009--will be located near the Elena Baskin Visual Arts Center.

The event will feature faculty and alumni speakers, including representatives from the Art, Digital Arts and New Media, and Music Departments.
