George R. Blumenthal, who has served as Acting Chancellor of UC Santa Cruz for the past 14 months, was appointed Chancellor today (September 19). Acting on the recommendation of UC President Robert C. Dynes, the University of California Board of Regents announced the appointment at approximately 2 p.m., during the afternoon session of the board's meeting in Davis.
President Dynes will officially present Chancellor Blumenthal to members of the campus community on Monday afternoon (September 24). The event will take place from 2:30 to 3:15 p.m. in the Music Center Recital Hall, followed by a reception on Kretschmer Plaza just outside the hall.
