Robin L. Dale has been appointed to the position of Associate University Librarian for Collections and Library Information Systems at the UCSC Library. Dale's role will be to provide leadership to move the UCSC Library's collections and information systems to the next generation of library services.
For the past decade, Dale worked for the Research Libraries Group (RLG), now RLG Programs, part of the nonprofit Online Computer Library Center's Programs and Research Division. Her projects included aspects of technology and digital repository development, metadata standardization and implementation, digitization and development of digital collections, and preservation.
From 1993 to 1997, Dale served as the head of the Preservation and Reformatting Department at Columbia University. Recently, she has been working with colleagues to address challenges related to scholarly communications, as well as enabling the new modes of research, teaching, and learning that are emerging in academic institutions.
Dale holds a bachelor of arts in political science and theatre from UC Riverside, and a master's in library information science from UC Berkeley. She is an adjunct professor in the San Jose State University School of Library and Information Science and was selected Teacher of the Year, 2005-06.
