Kevin ("Skippy") Givens, OPERS intramural and sports club director, recently received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Freestyle Frisbee Players Association.
Presented at the Freestyle Frisbee World Championship in Amsterdam earlier this summer, the new award recognizes long-lasting contributions to the sport of Freestyle Frisbee. Givens has been involved in organizing freestyle disc play for almost 30 years, was instrumental in bringing the sport to Santa Cruz, and has hosted many events at UCSC over the years. He is the competition director for the Freestyle Players Association and is also a 14-time World Champion in the sport.
Since 1979, the Freestyle Players Association has set its goals to promote the sport and the standardization of international tournaments.
