Two ITS staff members die this past weekend

It is with profound sadness that I write to inform you that two staff members in our Information Technology Services division died this past weekend. Tim May, 39, died suddenly of unknown causes Sunday afternoon in his Santa Cruz home; Dave Moorman, 55, also passed away on Sunday, at a local hospital after suffering a heart attack a day earlier.

Tim joined the campus four years ago, working initially for University Relations in a computer support position. During the recent ITS reorganization, Tim's technology and people skills were recognized when he was promoted to a position supporting the Chancellor's Office and its affiliate units.

Dave had worked at UCSC for almost six years, serving most recently as an operator in the division's newly created Core Technologies unit. In that capacity, he provided critical behind-the-scenes nighttime support in the campus's Data Center before assuming a daytime shift in recent months.

In their combined 10 years at UCSC, these two staff members left a legacy of commitment and caring. They will be missed, both personally and professionally.

Please join me in extending our very deepest condolences to the family members, friends, and colleagues of these two members of the UCSC community.
