Online Ethics Briefing Reminder

To: UCSC Academic & Staff Employees

From: Executive Vice Chancellor Kliger

I write to request your participation in the Online Ethics Briefing required of all UC employees. UCSC employees hired before November 2006 who have not yet completed the briefing were recently sent an e-mail reminder from ethics@ucsc.edu. The purpose of this briefing is to familiarize UC employees with the Statement of Ethical Values and Standards of Ethical Conduct, adopted by the UC Regents in May 2005.

The deadline for completing the online briefing has been extended from June 15 to June 30, 2007. The briefing, developed by UC Office of the President with the vendor Workplace Answers, can be taken on any computer with Internet access. UCSC employees who have not completed the briefing will continue to receive e-mail reminders from Workplace Answers via the e-mail address, ethics@ucsc.edu until June 30.

If you have not received an e-mail with your personal link to the Online Ethics Briefing, please contact ethics@ucsc.edu. Employees without Internet access will be able to attend a classroom version of the briefing delivered at a later date at the UCSC campus.

Please note that employees who began working at UCSC after November 2006 have not been registered to take the online briefing. They will be included in the next phase of the roll-out that will occur in a few months.

Visit the UC Ethics Web Site (http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/compliance/ethics/) for updates, the history of the Statement of Ethical Values and Standards of Ethical Conduct, and links to UC policies and ethics resources.
