Two history of consciousness professors to give readings at bookstore

Members of the campus community are invited to a book reading and signing by professors of history of consciousness Teresa de Lauretis and David Marriott at the Bay Tree Bookstore at noon on Tuesday, June 5.

De Lauretis will read from her Figures of Resistance (University of Illinois Press) and David Marriott will read from his Haunted Life (Rutgers University Press).

"De Lauretis's work is stimulating, innovative, and groundbreaking," said Judith Mayne, Distinguished Humanities Professor, French and women's studies, Ohio State University. "Readers from a wide range of audiences will be grateful to have in a single volume the works of one of the most important feminist theorists working today."

Rutgers University Press describes Haunted Life as "a bold and original exploration of the legacies of black visual culture and the deeply politicized sexual violence that lies buried beneath it."

The event will include light refreshments.
