Men's tennis team wins 6th national title

For the sixth time in school history, UCSC's men's tennis team has captured an NCAA national championship. The lastest jewel in the decorated team's crown was added Thursday when the Slugs defeated Emory University of Atlanta 5-1. The 2007 NCAA Division III championships were played at Washington University in St. Louis.

"They're all different every time," Coach Bob Hansen said of his six different title teams. "They're all fantastic," he told the Santa Cruz Sentinel.

UCSC's tennis team also captured the Division III crown in 1989, 1995, 1996, 1998, and 2005; the 2005 title, contested on the Slug's East Field courts, was captured in front of home fans.
