In a unique collaboration, UC Santa Cruz and the City of Santa Cruz have created a joint ticketing system to sell tickets for events taking place on campus, at the Civic Auditorium and throughout the community.
The new system--Santa Cruz Tickets--is designed as a comprehensive community ticket office from which patrons can buy tickets to most local performances and events through one source, either online at santacruztickets.com, or in person at the City's Civic Auditorium Box Office, or the UCSC Ticket Office.
Tickets currently available through Santa Cruz Tickets include all performances of the Santa Cruz Symphony, Shakespeare Santa Cruz, Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music, UCSC Arts & Lectures, UCSC Arts performances, and all Civic Auditorium events.
Santa Cruz Mayor Emily Reilly and UCSC Acting Chancellor George Blumenthal hailed Santa Cruz Tickets as another example of the city and university working together for the benefit of campus and city residents.
"This is an important step in developing cultural tourism as a fundamental part of our Santa Cruz economy," Mayor Reilly said. "Neither of our organizations could have done this alone, but by collaborating we've not only helped each other but also every ticket buyer and cultural organization in the community."
Acting Chancellor Blumenthal said Santa Cruz Tickets "brings immediate benefits to the community and the university and is further evidence of how UCSC and the city working together can achieve results that benefit us both. I want to acknowledge the outstanding and dedicated work of UCSC and city staff who made this ticketing system become a reality," Blumenthal said.
Santa Cruz Tickets may also expand its services to offer a convenient outlet for community music and arts organizations in marketing their events.
The project is the culmination of two years of cooperative work by UCSC and city staff resulting in the joint purchase of the latest in sophisticated ticketing software, Audience View. The comprehensive software is being used by such organizations as the Children's Theater of Toronto; the city of Mesa, Ariz.; the Toronto Blue Jays; University of Minnesota; and MGM venues in Las Vegas.
