Along with a large portion of the Santa Cruz area, the campus experienced a complete power outage today, Tuesday, January 16, starting at 8:47 a.m. and lasting until 9:58 a.m. PG&E reports the cause as a fault at their Paul Sweet Substation, and estimates that the outage affected approximately 20,000 of the utility's customers. The precise cause of the outage is under investigation by PG&E.
The utility reports that power is stable, and further disturbances are not expected.
