The University of California (UC) and UAW and its affiliated Local 2865 announced on Tuesday evening that they had reached a tentative agreement on the terms of a successor collective bargaining agreement.
This morning, UC and UAW released the following joint statement:
The University of California (UC) and the UAW and its affiliated Local 2865 last night (Dec. 2) reached a tentative agreement on the terms of a successor collective bargaining agreement.Â
Details of the agreement are being withheld from the public pending ratification by the UAW.
UAW Local 2865 represents over 11,000 Academic Student Employees (ASEs) working as Teaching Assistants, Readers and Tutors at the eight general teaching campuses of UC.Â
The first agreement between the parties which commenced on June 1, 2000 was the culmination of a lengthy organizing campaign. That agreement expired October 1, 2003.
