Are you interested in serving our campus community and giving back to your fellow staff members? Consider joining the Staff Advisory Board!
The purpose of the SAB is to support the welfare and diversity of UCSC staff. The board does this by serving in an advisory capacity to our campus leadership and other campus parties or organizations. Our advocacy promotes better communication and relations among the staff and our larger campus community.
Some tangible examples of this advocacy are:
- Facilitating the Chancellor’s Forum and other leadership forum events throughout the year and engaging in a year-round conversation with the Office of the Chancellor
- Running the Holiday Food & Fund Drive
- Serving on campuswide committees, such as the Strategic Planning Workgroups and the Campus Safety Community Advisory Board
- Hosting the Staff Appreciation Picnic and other recognition events
- Participating in the CUCSA delegation
From now until April 19th, the SAB is accepting self-nominations for open spots on the board. We will verify that each nominee meets the eligibility criteria according to the SAB bylaws. To be eligible for board membership, nominees must:
- Be policy governed (non-represented)
- Either be past probation in a Career/Partial-Year Career appointment or be in a Contract appointment with at least six months served in that contract
The customary term of office for each member is three years. The term begins on July 1, 2024, and ends on June 30, 2027. Contracted staff employees or other employees for whom serving a three-year term is not possible may serve a shorter term. Their availability will be mentioned in their candidate summary during elections.
Since there is a time commitment to invest a few hours per week while serving on the SAB, it is strongly recommended that nominees have the full support of their supervisor.
