Dear UCSC Staff,
It is hard to know how to begin addressing the difficulties we have lived through this year. Numerous disruptions of varying nature have interrupted the learning, research, and work of our campus, to say nothing of cherished traditions and events we look forward to every year. Despite the challenges, we have continually demonstrated our collective resilience and tenacity. We are grateful for our community and we know we will make it through this current upheaval.
While we all continue to work hard keeping the essential operations of campus moving forward, we can also acknowledge the uncertainty and fear that we all experience when facing the unknown. The Staff Advisory Board members know that folks in our community have questions. The SAB wants to help connect those questions to the folks who can provide answers.
Yesterday, the SAB met with Chancellor Cynthia Larive, and we are pleased to announce that we will host the Chancellor and Senior Leadership Forum in the coming weeks. We hope to have a date set soon. With ITS and other business units' work so disrupted by current events, we are still working on the specifics of date and time.
In the meantime, the SAB welcomes staff input on what issues are most important to the community at this time. Please share your thoughts on this form, and the SAB will make sure our senior leadership team sees your feedback.
For this event, we anticipate most of the questions/concerns of staff at this point will be related to human resources. As such, this forum will likely focus on those issues, and we hope to have our Staff Human Resources experts join the chancellor to be able to provide the best information possible. We expect the feedback from staff to be diverse, and if subsequent fora are necessary to address other concerns, the chancellor and SAB are committed to holding additional events.
Keep a lookout for follow up communication that will set a date and time for this event. Thank you for your time and engagement. I remain appreciative of the UCSC community, and the SAB looks forward to hearing from you in the coming days and weeks.
