To: UC Santa Cruz Community

From: Jaye Padgett, Vice Provost, Student Success, and Lucy Rojas, Assistant Vice Chancellor and Chief of Staff, Student Success

The campus invites your comments on the draft Therapy Animal Policy, procedures, and related documents.

UC Santa Cruz has been hosting Pause for Paws therapy animal events at McHenry Library and the Science and Engineering Library since 2013. The Therapy Animal Policy and procedures are new and were drafted in response to the need for the campus to have a standard process for approving and implementing therapy animal events. The proposed new therapy animal policy and procedures will be overseen by the Dean of Students office and implemented by Student Volunteer Center student staff.

You can view and comment on the draft documents here. Please submit your comments to Elise McCandless (emccandl@ucsc.edu) by July 12, 2018.

If no substantial comments are received, this policy will be forwarded to the CP/EVC on or after July 13, 2018, for approval. The final policy will be effective as of the date of CP/EVC approval and published on the Administrative Policy website at https://policy.ucsc.edu/index.html.

We value and appreciate your input as a member of UC Santa Cruz community.
