Student parking during year-end activities

To: UCSC Undergraduate Students

From: Larry Pageler, Transportation and Parking Services

As the campus prepares for the many commencement and year-end celebrations this weekend, I want to alert you to the impact this will have on traffic and parking. On Friday there will be 16 departmental or organizational celebrations throughout the day with hundreds of visitors needing on-campus parking. Parking in the East Remote lot will be free on Friday to accommodate commencement attendees and all campus affiliates, including students. Please note that R permits expire on Friday; however, we will allow R permit holders to park in the following lots during Commencement weekend:
- Lot 111 (Crown College)
- Lot 119 (Merrill College)
- Lots 143/145 (Kresge College)
- Lot 150 (North Remote)

Regular campus traffic patterns will be modified on Saturday and Sunday, and parking will be highly restricted as attendants guide thousands of visitors to commencement parking.

Campus shuttles will be operating on the summer intersession Loop bus schedule (starting at 7:30 a.m.) on Friday, with added evening Loop buses operating until 10 p.m. During the weekend campus Loop shuttle service will operate from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

If you have guests coming to campus for weekend commencement activities, please let them know that Metro buses serving the UCSC campus will be fare-free on Saturday and Sunday.
