June 3 is Primary Election Day — Reminder to Vote

To: UCSC Community

From: Donna Blitzer, Director of Government Relations

Tuesday, June 3 is Primary Election Day.  There are important votes for Governor and other federal, state and local candidates as well as two initiatives.  Voting is a citizen's fundamental right, and I urge you to use this opportunity to let your voice be heard.

If you need information about polling locations — on and off campus — please go to http://www.votescount.com/jun14/pplaces.htm

If you need information on the candidates and  propositions on the ballot, please go to http://www.votescount.com/jun14/

If you are a student and are registered to vote in your home county you must mail in an absentee ballot and it must be received by June 3.  If you have a mail ballot and are registered in Santa Cruz County you can mail before June 3 or hand in at any polling place on election day.

If for any reason you are not listed on your polling location's registered voters list, and you are sure you registered, ask for a provisional ballot, so that your vote can still count.

California state law, University of California policy, and applicable labor agreements allow leave with pay up to a maximum of two hours for voting in a statewide primary or general election if an employee is scheduled to work eight hours or more that day, and if the employee does not have time to vote outside of working hours.

Thank you for participating!
