Proposed Staff Policy 84-Accommodations for Nursing Mothers

The University invites your comments on the proposed Personnel Policies for Staff Members (PPSM) 84 - Accommodations for Nursing Mothers.

This proposed policy is part of the University of California’s commitment to support family care-giving responsibilities. The University recognizes the importance and benefits of breastfeeding for both mothers and their infants.

Under the provisions of the proposed policy and in accordance with mandated state and federal laws, the University will provide:

  •        Appropriate sanitary and private space for lactation purposes, ideally in close proximity to the nursing mothers work area
  •       A reasonable amount of time for lactation breaks
