Chemist Rebecca Braslau's work on a spray to detect the oil from poison oak was featured on National Public Radio's "Morning Edition," KGO Radio, CNET, Discovery News, Santa Cruz Sentinel, Monterey County Herald, San Jose Mercury News, and Contra Costa Times.

Biomolecular engineer Ed Green was featured on the season premiere of the PBS documentary television series NOVA ScienceNow, and stories about the show ran in the Santa Cruz Sentinel, San Jose Mercury News, Contra Costa Times, and Inside Bay Area.

Geologist Rob Coe and his former graduate student, Scott Bogue, were featured in an article in Discover magazine about their research in Hawaii on ancient reversals of Earth's magnetic field.

Astronomer Garth Illingworth was featured on the Planetary Radio show produced by the Planetary Society, discussing his work on the eXtreme Deep Field image.

Professor Craig Haney, director of the graduate program in social psychology and director of the legal studies program, was quoted in a Washington Post column about solitary confinement.

Vice chancellor for research Bruce Margon was quoted in a story in the Santa Cruz Sentinel and Monterey County Herald about UCSC's high score for research influence in the World University Rankings.

Astronomer Connie Rockosi was quoted in an Astronomy.com story about a new map of massive galaxies and distant black holes.

The San Jose Mercury News, Monterey Herald, Contra Costa Times, Inside Bay Area, and Santa Cruz Sentinel featured stories about alumna Reyna Grande and her new memoir of immigration, including quotes from Grande’s former teacher, literature professor Micah Perks, who is co-director of the UCSC Creative Writing Program. 

The Santa Cruz Good Times featured an article about 'Playing With Fire,' a documentary by Film and Digital Media Department professor and chair Gustavo Vazquez (co-produced by former assistant dean of the arts Keith Muscutt) that will premiere at the Pacific Rim Festival. The story also spotlighted “The Power of Two,” a film by UCSC alum and current film lecturer Marc Smolowitz.
