Update: Missing UCSC student has been found in good health

UPDATE:

We are thrilled to share with you the following update the campus just received from Yosemite:

John Paul Chaufan Field, a UCSC senior and College Ten student, has been found in good health, about five miles from where he was last seen on Saturday afternoon in Yosemite National Park.

The national park has just issued a new press release with information about J.P.'s rescue.

This is the best possible news, and we are very thankful for the efforts of the people who organized and conducted the search operation.

EARLIER MESSAGE:

We want to alert you to the fact that Yosemite National Park is searching for John Paul Chaufan Field, a UCSC senior and College Ten student, who has been missing since Saturday afternoon.

"J.P." was participating in a backpacking trip there with fellow UCSC students.

The national park has just issued a press release describing the circumstances surrounding John's disappearance. UCSC is in regular contact with park personnel, who have asked us to let the campus community know that they have the people and other resources they need to conduct the search.
