"Trayless dining" in UCSC's dining halls was praised in the sustainability survey.

UC Santa Cruz is included in two recently released surveys Forbes magazine conducted as part of its "America's Best Colleges" web features.

UCSC was included on the "10 Best Public Colleges in the Western U.S." list. The campus was joined by several other UC campuses in the top 10: Berkeley, UCLA, Irvine, and Davis.

The list ranks institutions according to the "quality of the education they provide, the experiences of their students, the amount of debt students graduate with, and how much they achieve." The list considered schools in Arizona, Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. Earlier in November, UCSC was also included on the magazine's "America's Greenest Colleges And Universities" list.
