Fall 2010 move-in activities for students

To: All UCSC faculty and staff

From: Felicia McGinty, vice chancellor, Student Affairs

Welcome back! Beginning Wednesday, September 15 through Sunday, September 19, the campus is pleased to welcome the Class of 2014. About 7,500 new and returning students will be moving into on- and off-campus residential housing throughout move-in weekend — a campuswide effort to welcome students, families, and friends and help students get the new academic year off to a great start. Our total fall enrollment is strong, and we are especially pleased to welcome the new frosh class and a record number of new transfer students.

Welcome Week begins tomorrow and offers a variety of activities and events for students. In addition, all students, faculty, and staff are invited to the annual UCSC Boardwalk Frolic on September 21. Buy tickets from the Bay Tree Bookstore or call (831) 459-4544 for more information. The OPERS Fall Festival on September 21 is a great opportunity to learn about UCSC student clubs and organizations, and everyone is welcome to attend this event at the East Field.

Move-in weekend and the start of a new academic year is an exciting time for our students and families. I encourage you to be friendly, answer questions, and help students settle into our community. Please join me in welcoming students to campus and help make move-in a positive, memorable experience.
