Preview Days 2009 -- Saturdays, October 10 & 17

To: UCSC Community

From: Office of Admissions

Preview Day is the annual campus open house to connect prospective students and their families with UCSC faculty and staff. In an effort to provide the most meaningful experience possible for prospective students and their families while reducing costs, the campus will offer a revised version of Preview Day in 2009.

Preview Day 2009

Saturday, October 10 & Saturday, October 17

. All participants will be required to register in advance online.

. There will be three sessions each day between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. followed by a campus walking tour. Each session covers key topics around undergraduate education, campus and student life, and admissions and eligibility requirements.

. The staffed Campus Resource and Student Life Fair has been eliminated from Preview Day; however, copies of key publications and/or lists of web resources will be provided.

We anticipate that with this new format, guests will have a consistently informative experience in a program that is clear and flows well. We expect to receive approximately the same number of visitors (1,800) that we have in previous years.

This year, campus units will not be asked to participate in any academic or campus life resource fairs. However, you are invited to send materials to be shared with guests over the two Saturdays. If your unit is interested in sharing publications, please send materials for approximately 900 guests to the Office of Admissions, mail stop Cook House, by Monday, October 5.

Also, you are welcome to open your offices on October 10 and/or October 17 in case prospective students and families would like to visit and ask questions. If you plan on opening your offices during those Saturdays, please contact Admissions Assistant Director Beatrice Atkinson-Myers at hfrogg@ucsc.edu, ext. 9-2352, and let her know what days and hours you plan on opening.

For more information, please visit the Preview Day web site:

Your preparation and/or participation for hundreds of prospective students and guests on Saturday, October 10 and Saturday, October 17 is much appreciated!
