Shorts by UCSC students to screen at Santa Cruz Film Festival on April 28

Six short films by UCSC students will be presented as part of the 2007 Santa Cruz Film Festival on Saturday, April 28, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Rio Theater. UCSC film students mentored students from three local high schools--San Lorenzo, Aptos, and Watsonville--to create documentary film shorts based on socially relevant local issues. The students worked closely with teachers James Kallas, San Lorenzo High; Jenny Angelacos, Aptos High; and Huve Rivas, Watsonville High.

Friends, & Love, a film by UCSC student Austin Hartman, will also be screened later that evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Rio Theater. The 6th annual Santa Cruz Film Festival runs April 19-28.
