UC Santa Cruz Professor of Biomolecular Engineering Angela Brooks, with the support of her lab (pictured here in 2022), will study data from lung cancer patients to better understand how gene isoforms influence the disease and why some patients relapse.

Research on understudied lung cancer drivers may improve treatments

Brooks has been awarded a $2.5 million grant from the National Institutes of Health’s prestigious R01 program to study how gene isoforms impact cancer progression and what treatments might be most effective or lead to drug resistance.
