Karen Tei Yamashita receives 2021 Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters

The award from the National Book Foundation is the latest accolade for Professor Emerita of Literature Karen Tei Yamashita, author of 10 books. Her 2011 novel "I Hotel" was a finalist for the National Book Award, and in 2009, she received a John Dos Passos Prize for Literature.
