Coastal marshes are vulnerable to erosion caused by rising seas, pounding waves, and tidal flows. Now add crabs to the list of threats. According to a new study by UC Santa Cruz researcher Kathryn Beheshti, superabundant crabs burrow into tidal creek banks in Elkhorn Slough, weakening them. |
