Quick thinking and teamwork are keeping the UC Santa Cruz campus community safe during the massive Lightning Complex fire as UCSC staff coordinate to evacuate, relocate, and feed displaced campus residents. |

 | Well-trained and cooperative animals—two dolphins, five seals, and a sea lion—were safely evacuated from UCSC’s Long Marine Laboratory. |

 | Residences on Mt. Hamilton sustained some damage, but fire crews have been able to protect the observatory’s telescope domes and visitor center. |
